Obama’s hope & change…..dasched!

obama-tearsGrab a tissue!  Looks like the wheels are falling off the Obama Hope & Change Bus.  His cast of shady characters are dropping like flies.  And according to polls – Obamas Stimulus Plan has yet to stimulate the majority of American Taxpayers buy in too!  ah-oh…..

It appears that things aren’t going along as Obama and his cult of followers had planned or anticipated (too much kool aid will do that to ya).  From Jesse Jackson to Oprah Winfrey to Ludacris and Peggy Joseph who said that she wasn’t going to have to worry about paying her mortgage or putting gas in her car now that Obama is President, hope & change are beginning to look like, well, nothing more than cheap campaign slogans.

The administration had defended its choice of Daschle, pointing out that he was not technically a lobbyist.  But today, the President accepted Daschles resignation and said it is now time to “move-on”, no pun intended.

“If you’re not registered to lobby, you can’t be a lobbyist,” said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, according to Time.com. Time.com: When is a lobbyist not a lobbyist?

Daschle and Kellifer were not the first of Obama’s nominees to come under scrutiny.

Before Tim Geithner was confirmed as treasury secretary, he was questioned over concerns involving his personal taxes and the immigration status of a former housekeeper.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson also withdrew his nomination to be commerce secretary, citing the distraction of a federal investigation into ties to a company that has done business with his state.

Given Obama’s pledge for “unprecedented transparency, rigorous oversight and clear accountability,” some said the controversy surrounding Obama’s appointments are calling into question the president’s vetting process.

“Mr. President, your picks to help run the federal government don’t have to be perfect, but is it too much to ask that they pay like everyone else, to keep that same government functioning? And more importantly, that they don’t wait until everyone, including you, is watching?”

CNN’s Campbell Brown wrote in a commentary.

campbell_brownAll this week, we’re taking aim at one word and one theme. It is something the president has promised and we’re holding him to it: transparency. If it’s more than an updated campaign slogan, the president might start by looking at his own Cabinet picks.

Both Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle were delinquent in paying tens of thousands of dollars each in back taxes. That’s more than some people earn in a year, let alone owe in back taxes. Neither man paid up in full until after they were approached to join the Obama administration.

I wonder how many Americans would avoid paying a six-figure tax bill until they were up for a new job? For that matter, how many people have owed more than $100,000 dollars without the IRS coming to haul off anything that wasn’t bolted down — like the car and driver Daschle [forgot] to pay for.

These are two critical positions in a brand new presidency built on a vow of honesty. Mr. President, your picks to help run the federal government don’t have to be perfect, but is it too much to ask that they pay like everyone else, to keep that same government functioning? And more importantly, that they don’t wait until everyone, including you, is watching?

I am going to take the commentary above as a full blown apology from Campbell Brown who was a card carrying member of the Kool-Aid Drinking, Obama Smitten-Media in the primary and general election campaigns.  How long will it take the others to come to the same realization that Ms. Brown has; you’ve been played by a smooth talkin’ – two bit community organizer from the Southside of Chicago.

BTW…..it was just reported that Obama is sitting down with a representative of every major & cable news network to discuss his “stimulus plan”.   Here we go again…..will the media allow President Obama to schmooze them the same way they allowed “Candidate” Obama?

  1. Right on, Enicks. It’s about accountability. He is just proving himself to be the empty suit hypocrite that we’ve always known him to be.

  2. First — LMAO — over this

Second —- what happened to paying your taxes being “patriotic”?

  3. Ha, you’re right. I guess his picks are unpatriotic.

  4. yeah — and so is he — the non flag wearing asshole — he’s such an opportunist

  5. I love the transparency. I called Barney Frank’s office today and he holding a meeting with his over sight committee and the banking CEO’s on Wednesday. I say no more pay outs until we find out where the last trillion went.

  6. Barney Frank has been tasked with oversight of the bank bailout. Haven’t we seen this movie before? Barney is still getting two thumbs up on being “Azul the gate-keeper” even AFTER he was one of the major players in creating the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac debacle? Geezuz, I am serious, the three stooges, Barney, Nancy & Harry. We will NEVER find out where the trillions went – and whats more frustrating MOST of the people that are in Washington are attorneys and yet, not one of them thought to write a bill that would limit what bailed out banks could and could use the money for. Anyone who doesn’t know that everyone involved is getting a piece of the “pie” is as ignorant as all get out.
